Michele and Karen are Co-Founders and Content Creators of Layers of Learning a homeschool curriculum designed to let you learn together, all ages, all at once. Read real books, do hands-on projects, watch videos, have family discussions. Have glorious fun exploring the world together! These ladies got started is a rather humorous and endearing al together! At a family reunion they were complaining about how they could not find the perfect curriculum. See, they wanted something that would bring their kids from 1st grade clear through 12th in a unified way.
Karen wanted lots of hands-on crafts, games, and field trips. Michelle wanted printables, discussions, and historical maps. Karen wanted a complete idea and resource book organized by units so she could plan her whole year in advance down to the supplies. Michelle wanted something that was grab-and-go for the days and one day Mom said we should just write one. Karen looked at Michelle doubtfully. Michelle looked at Karen with trepidation. And then they said, “Yeah, we can totally do that.”

Intro
Andre Collins Author of Everywhere I Go. About a little Martian named Martin who everywhere he goes he see people on their phones and missing out on the world! Andre never thought of himself as an author at all but he always liked telling stories! Andre wrote a personal and timely book for new parents. In a day and age when we are all stuck to our phones Martin is here to teach us all valuable lessons. First that we should not be on your phone all day; especially when someone needs you to be present be present for them, like your little ones and maybe even big ones like older kids and your spouse. And lastly Andre wanted to show his son, you can do anything you want.

- The time you can spend with your family is so valuable and kids are only kids once so it is important to be around and be an example as much as you can.
- Also how many of us take the person standing next to us for granted and we think they are always going to be there, and the truth is they just may not be.

Intro
Britt and Shawn are the creators of NowWhat With Britt and Shawn. At the very start of the pandemic, they both were almost immediately laid off from their jobs--Shawn as a teacher and Britt as a curriculum developer for a national youth-serving organization. They quickly decided to hone their technical skills by learning video production and editing. At the same time, they noticed a huge surge in the amount of educational content for kids (as educators, they were paying close attention!), but they realized that so much of it probably wasn't helping kids achieving meaningful learning objectives. For example, they saw lots of craft and experiment tutorials, but not much instruction and information to ground the activities. They could see that this was a significant challenge for families who were homeschooling for the first time. They decided to try to fill that gap by providing quality educational content to families at a time when they needed it most.
Their Now What? videos, which focus mainly on art and science, include both a lesson as well as an activity was born! We've intentionally created videos on tornadoes, on snowflakes, they make snow globes, introduce the water cycle, on levers, and so much more!

- Kids who are homeschooled have a significant advantage--they get more time and attention, targeted lessons that are more likely to meet them where they are, lessons that are catered specifically towards their interests--all factors that can support better learning outcomes for kids.

Hannah Waddle CEO and Creator of Online Parkour School found her love of parkour accidently learning to breakdance! Hey don't knock it you never know where you find your passion after a not so great attempt at throwing down the moves, a friend invited her to go parkouring and Hannah being the adventurous women she is said yes and was instantly captivated by the sport and was relieved with the lack of rhythmic coordination needed! She quickly began to realize how it can help kids develop character and prepare for the challenges they will face in life. She also noticed that a child who struggles with focus or ADHD/ADD parkour helps them develop the skills to control impulses and focus. And Hannah wanted to provide resources so parents can make PE engaging and fun WITHOUT a lot of extra work on the parents part!

Aimee Deemter CEO and Founder of the Spanish Teacher LLC. Amy fell in-love with the language when she traveled to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip and then began her journey to learning Spanish. Her focus in teaching is to speak and read as much Spanish at a level her students can understand. She uses repetition through different stories in order to foster memorization. Aimee doesn't feel teaching grammar should be the main focus but rather it is learned through use of the language regularly.

- You can teach Spanish without giving grades to students because all students can learn a language and depending on their background with language, study habits, etc, we all learn at different rates.

Jack Replinger CEO and Content Creator of Positive Physics During his second year of teaching, he was watching his class struggle through their midterm exam. It was one of the lowest points of his teaching career, but it would turn out to be one of the most inspirational. He saw the Frustration in his students they desperately wanted to be successful; they just could not succeed at solving the problems. It was right there that it hit him, the failure was really his own.
So he started over, determined that any student who sat in his physics class would only learn but love physics. Jack has spent the last decade, through many trials and error he has developed a curriculum, he called Positive Physics. After seeing how successful his students were, decided that this needed to become a website. He then shared his story with friend and incredibly talented developer, Anthony Fizer who went on to become the companies the CTO and co-founder, and in less than three months Jack's Students took the role of QA and were testing the first version of positivephysics.org.
