My name is Bex Buzzie and I am a teacher, coach and educational course content creator from San Diego California. Intro
Britt and Shawn are the creators of NowWhat With Britt and Shawn. At the very start of the pandemic, they both were almost immediately laid off from their jobs--Shawn as a teacher and Britt as a curriculum developer for a national youth-serving organization. They quickly decided to hone their technical skills by learning video production and editing. At the same time, they noticed a huge surge in the amount of educational content for kids (as educators, they were paying close attention!), but they realized that so much of it probably wasn't helping kids achieving meaningful learning objectives. For example, they saw lots of craft and experiment tutorials, but not much instruction and information to ground the activities. They could see that this was a significant challenge for families who were homeschooling for the first time. They decided to try to fill that gap by providing quality educational content to families at a time when they needed it most.
Their Now What? videos, which focus mainly on art and science, include both a lesson as well as an activity was born! We've intentionally created videos on tornadoes, on snowflakes, they make snow globes, introduce the water cycle, on levers, and so much more!

Kids who are homeschooled have a significant advantage--they get more time and attention, targeted lessons that are more likely to meet them where they are, lessons that are catered specifically towards their interests--all factors that can support better learning outcomes for kids.
There are so many resources out there to support families who are homeschooling their kids!
High-interest topics are engaging and motivating for learners, and you can always build lessons around these topics to capture kids' attention.

Hannah Waddle CEO and Creator of Online Parkour School found her love of parkour accidently learning to breakdance! Hey don't knock it you never know where you find your passion after a not so great attempt at throwing down the moves, a friend invited her to go parkouring and Hannah being the adventurous women she is said yes and was instantly captivated by the sport and was relieved with the lack of rhythmic coordination needed! She quickly began to realize how it can help kids develop character and prepare for the challenges they will face in life. She also noticed that a child who struggles with focus or ADHD/ADD parkour helps them develop the skills to control impulses and focus. And Hannah wanted to provide resources so parents can make PE engaging and fun WITHOUT a lot of extra work on the parents part!

Aimee Deemter CEO and Founder of the Spanish Teacher LLC. Amy fell in-love with the language when she traveled to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip and then began her journey to learning Spanish. Her focus in teaching is to speak and read as much Spanish at a level her students can understand. She uses repetition through different stories in order to foster memorization. Aimee doesn't feel teaching grammar should be the main focus but rather it is learned through use of the language regularly.

That the homeschool schedule can be very involved in field trips and other co-op classes not just academics.
You can teach Spanish without giving grades to students because all students can learn a language and depending on their background with language, study habits, etc, we all learn at different rates.
Teaching beginning Spanish to middle school and high school-age students with an acquisition-based approach through hearing, reading and speaking as much Spanish as possible is the key to success.

Jack Replinger CEO and Content Creator of Positive Physics During his second year of teaching, he was watching his class struggle through their midterm exam. It was one of the lowest points of his teaching career, but it would turn out to be one of the most inspirational. He saw the Frustration in his students they desperately wanted to be successful; they just could not succeed at solving the problems. It was right there that it hit him, the failure was really his own.
So he started over, determined that any student who sat in his physics class would only learn but love physics. Jack has spent the last decade, through many trials and error he has developed a curriculum, he called Positive Physics. After seeing how successful his students were, decided that this needed to become a website. He then shared his story with friend and incredibly talented developer, Anthony Fizer who went on to become the companies the CTO and co-founder, and in less than three months Jack's Students took the role of QA and were testing the first version of positivephysics.org.

Michael Finnegan Creator and Founder of Quantum Camp used to be a public school science teacher. Michael super frustrated by the hurdles before him, to simply introduce compelling physical phenomena for his kids to wrangle with.
On top of the school board and principal were breathing down my neck telling me to teach science to the standardized tests. He just couldn't do it anymore. He couldn’t see himself delivering boring check-box based lists of dry content, to be memorized, to those beautiful young minds, in his classroom. Yet he knew of no better alternative. Which began the quest! He dove in head first in to the history of science and math in search of what the great, iconic scientists of history did, in their pursuit of learning and building new knowledge.

Bryant Santana is the CEO and Creator of TheMovingTeacher.com. As an educator who was working abroad and in the US, he found that finding materials was just difficult. So Bryant practically single handedly began to create the site TheMovingTeacher.com site that has free to low-cost resources, so educators, guardians, students, and more are not breaking the bank or their nerves looking for materials on the internet. Bryant is slowly becoming a one stop shop for all things education. He prides himself on providing credible resources, that he vets daily. Bryant realizes that a lot of things exist but not are all legit. He also feels along with providing quality and credible resources that one of the most important things is the ability to tailor things how you want them to be and to have a purpose, so your child can have greater understanding.

Carissa Getscher is CEO and Founder of Sunflower Music lessons where she provides a plethora of music education resources like music history, appreciation, lesson helps, and actual music lessons.
At Sunflower Music lessons the belief is that any parent can teach music education. Carissa's lesson plans are supplements to curriculum parents are already using, how you ask? Maybe you are studying the Civil War or the Industrial Revolution in Europe. You can put a soundtrack to the history you are learning and BAM now it's music history.
Check out their Harriet Tubman resources, or the composers of Europe as supplemental resources. You can also use Sunflower Music, music appreciation worksheets to analyze music from any era, download a simplified piece of sheet music so your young musician can play a page of Beethoven. and so many more resources for your naturally curious child!

The myth as to "Why most people homeschool?" It used to be common for people to think it was for religious reasons and now people might think homeschooling is a political choice. But most parents who pull their kids now have reasons like bullying or accommodations
There is definitely a status division between those who can put their kids in lessons and those who can't...but I believe in this information age, parents can teach anything a kid wants to learn.
Homeschooling is so important to her that as a single working mom she's dedicated to finding a way to provide for my three sons without having to put them in public school. She loves watching her boys as they grow into the best versions of themselves and how they know their value. Homeschooling allows her the opportunity to be there daily speaking love into them as they bloom into men.
Carissa knows that a good home is the key to that dream- so she will work and sacrifice to make sure that it goes from dream to reality, Carissa has a powerful story of loss in one area and gain in another and then the birth of sunflower music
